Andrew Maguire Chartered Architectural Technologist MCIAT
Beginning my professional journey in 2006, I initially focused on Civil and Structural Engineering, specializing in producing drawings and conducting surveys for a variety of projects, from pharmaceutical facilities to residential homes.
After earning my Architectural Technologist degree B.Sc. (Hons), in 2014, I landed a position in London with the esteemed top 100, interior, furniture and architectural firm, Collett-Zarzycki Ltd, known for its high-end projects. Following an additional year of contract work, I moved to Brighton & Hove, collaborating with the reputable architectural firm Mohsin Cooper for four years, handling diverse residential and commercial projects. Subsequently, I spent three fulfilling years then with ECE, an AJ100 award-winning architecture practice based in Worthing.
Throughout my journey, my enduring passion for Creativity, Development, and Technology has driven me. As the founder of my own company, I'm thrilled to apply these skills to craft innovative architectural solutions. I aim to build trust with clients by delivering designs that go above and beyond expectations, enhancing the built environment in meaningful ways.

WHAT CLIENTS SAY
“Converting and modernising a quaint, but decidedly old bungalow, is not for the faint-hearted, even if you are British born and bred! Imagine, how daunting for former South Africans, eager to create a new home, without disrupting the integrity of a lovely street, with its own special character. Andrew's patience, advice and guidance has been invaluable.
Thank you, Andrew, for all of your effort! We have already recommended Andrew to our British family, and he is working his magic on their home too.”

What is a Chartered Architectural Technologist and
How Do They Differ from an Architect?
A Chartered Architectural Technologist (MCIAT) is a qualified professional who specialises in the technology of architecture, focusing on the technical design, performance, and functionality of buildings. While they play a similar role to architects in designing and delivering projects, their expertise lies in the technical side of construction, ensuring that designs are buildable, functional, and comply with regulations. An Architect has an arts Degree while a Technologist has a science degree.
Both Chartered Architectural Technologists and Architects work within the RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) Plan of Work structure, follow strict codes of conduct, and carry professional indemnity insurance, providing clients with the same level of confidence and assurance in the quality of work. Although there are some differences in focus, the roles often overlap, and a Chartered Architectural Technologist can provide many of the same services as an architect.
While architects tend to focus on the conceptual design and aesthetics of a project, Chartered Architectural Technologists bring a strong emphasis on the technical delivery and detailing. This means that an Architectural Technologist is particularly skilled in turning design concepts into practical, buildable solutions, ensuring that the project meets technical standards and performs effectively once built.
Ultimately, both professions can bring strength to a project, with Chartered Architectural Technologists excelling in the technical, regulatory, and detailed design aspects, and architects often bringing a creative and conceptual approach. However, it is entirely possible for a Chartered Architectural Technologist to be equally adept in design as an architect, and vice versa. Both professionals are fully equipped to lead projects from inception to completion, providing a comprehensive service to clients.
Choosing a Chartered Architectural Technologist gives you access to a technically focused, practical design professional who can provide innovative solutions and ensure the smooth delivery of your project, while maintaining the same high standards and professionalism you would expect from any RIBA-aligned practice.
